/Economy upgrading for petrol and diesel models- Exactly how is it done?
Since the early 1990s, most engines have been controlled by an on-board computer, the engine control unit (ECU), which amongst other functions, defines the ignition timing, fuelling and boost pressure for all given engine speeds and loads. After extensive development and testing, we arrive at the optimised settings for your make and model of vehicle, ensuring that each upgrade is as individual as the software inside your ECU, safely eliminating those ‘performance compromises’. In most cases this remapped programme is installed electronically and remotely through the car’s diagnostic port. There’s no replacement chip, and we don’t touch the ECU itself. Many people prefer something they can see and touch, for those customers we are able to fit dual channel processors, these produce mainly the same results, although in some cases with a simple re-programme and new connection lead, we can swop these units from vehicle to vehicle And we always test your vehicle before handing it back for you to enjoy, just making sure everything is operating as it should be. Very important, we never exceed the safe parameters which the manufacturer builds into your vehicle, we simply extend the performance for you to use. In many cases our customers are informing us of fuel consumption improvements, this is because of the increased torque which is produced by our upgrades, more torque equals less gear changes and less engine revs theirfore improved consumption Important news - 2009 saw us appointed sole UK agent for German Technology Tuning
